Warzone’s Verdansk map finally returns on April 3, and it brings a ton of gameplay changes, including an overhauled omnimovement system specific to Call of Duty’s battle royale.
Verdansk’s return looks to make the current battle royale experience resemble the original as closely as possible. Fan-favorite weapons like the Kilo and HDR return, loot floats again, vehicles will feel more like they originally did, and movement will be more like the original.
During the original days, bunny hopping and slide canceling were the meta, then Warzone 2 slowed everything down, and then Black Ops 6’s omnimovement majorly sped it up. But the changes with Season 3 on April 3 are set to strike a balance between Modern Warfare 2019 and Black Ops 6.
“When Verdansk returns, players are going to experience an updated movement system built just for Warzone,” said Pete Actipis, Raven Software’s game developer, on March 26’s COD POD podcast. “Omnimovement isn’t going away, so we want to prioritize the battle royale experience, and we want to ensure that movement feels right in Warzone.”
They said the movement will be “simplified” and will feel a little bit closer to the original, “improving” on it. So, it doesn’t sound like old mechanics like bunny hopping or the classic slide canceling will return, but with the success of BO6’s Slipstream Perk that removes Tactical Sprint and increases movement speed, perhaps this will be applied by default.

You’ll find yourself spending a lot more time on foot and in vehicles when Verdansk returns, as they’ve also scrapped the redeploy balloons. If you want to know more, you can check out the full list of gameplay changes with Season 3.
